our "to-do" list 10 days before

ok. tomorrow we have to get all this done! :

1. marriage liscense
2. book our wedding night hotel room
3. print bridal portraits
4. finalize music
5. start packing for our honeymoon
6. buy plates and napkins for our cake

we still need to figure out what we're going about

- unity candle stand
- 16x24 bridal portrait
- print programs ( ugh! i can't believe this one isn't finished yet!)
- buy purple ribbon for cake cutters

mrs. sharp in 10 more days! :)
ps. rock. you're a skanky hoE!

i'm searching.

when we, and when i say we i mean me mom and tink, started looking at centerpieces we figured out we couldn't afford a florist so we decided to try to buy alll the flowers and let my mom do the arranging and decorating because she's so natrually good at it. ha. well when we started adding up how much it would be to buy all the vases and flowers we were looking at a pretty little penny. plus i wasn't really into the whole flowe thing anyways. so then we decided to just go ahead and buy something that was around thirty dollars that would look good in the center of the table well that crashed and burned when we couldn't find anything we liked. so then my mom ran into the florist at michael's and found out she runs her own wedding facility! woulda been nice to know from the beginning huh? well we went to her house for a meeting and she had these extravagant candelabras that would just take up the whole table so we were so relieved but then we i started lloking at her flowers i was like wow. im not really impressed with the quality of flowers she had i mean dont get me wrong she had almost every flower you could think of but it just wasn't my taste so then we started thinking what if we went and bought the flowers and she could design them!? when we got to hobby lobby i fell in love with these flowers;

but then of course we had to have another color and that's when we put this together:

no this green is a little more of a lime green than the ones i've got but it's pretty close to looking like this.

so now we've fired the florist and my mom is back to making the arrangements herself!
we've driven to all the hobby lobby's in the area and bought all the ones they had like this and we're still waiting for the last of them to come in. we had to special order them. hopfully they dont get placed on backorder and them not come in!

today we picked up all the essentials. flower girl baskets, rose petals, guest book and pen, cake plates napkins cups and forks to serve the cake, and flutes for the toast.

we've got eleven more days and we're rushing!

let's eat cake!

with this wedding i have changed my mind about everything so many times it's unreal. i originally wanted demask and magenta but my mother convinced me that it was too childish and i was looking for a more elegant feel. so from there i changed it to fern green and chocolate brown and ivory which was very pretty but when the $$150 bridesmaid dresses arrived i melted. the fern green looked like poop. that's what led me to change it to purple, which when deciding it was a toss up between green and purple, so now it's an eggplant color which i am totally happy with. it's the deepest darkest most rich purple and it looks like majesty, i love it. so my poor wedding cake got left out in the cold and forgot about. when i went to get my hair done for my bridals i bought :the knot: magazine and saw some cakes that i really liked but didn't think twice about. when i remembered that my cake was still chocolate and ivory i quickly started searching for a new fresh idea. i came across this cake :

and the more i look at it the more i like it and for me that's a big deal because usually the more i look at something the less i like it. . i'm head over heels in love with this cake. my theme for the wedding is "beauty in simplicity" which was something i always used to say before and while me and sparky were dating. so i like how it's carried over into our theme . i don't like big extravagant stuff so everything in 18 days will have a clean simple look. .
oh my, i can't believe the day is finally here.

no stinking way!

days are flying bye!

as you know the original fern green bridesmaid dresses were a total disaster and we decided to go with a cheap one that i found from charlotte russe. well haha just to my luck i went to buy them and they only had two left in the whole store! so i cought the only two they had and planned on buying the other two offline. rock went ahead and went to the galleria and got hers and i went online to purchase the last one. my jaw hit the floor when i found out they apparently had run out of them . i panicked! i googled all the stores in the nearest 50 miles and started calling them all to see if they had it in stock. 20 calls and no one had the dress :( so i decided to put my best friend and little sister in the pretty decorated dress and the two other girls in just plain black dresses and have them alternate out. well i went to charlotte russe today to return some stuff and saw that they had two of my dresses! :) they were both large so i bought one and aris' mom can take them in to make them fit the girls just right ahh. sigh of relief. problem solved. thank you jesus.

1 and 15

thats how many days are left until we get married!
one month and fifteen days to be exact!

today was our second appoinment with the florist and it went well.
she had a very beautiful centerpiece set up for us to see with plates, chargers, glasses, napkins and chair covers with sashes all set up and ready for us to see.
knowing me my first response was wow that's beautiful but as i sat there and looked at it i started picking it apart like always . so we went to her facility and she has every flower every table cloth every centerpiece everything you could ever think of she has! so we started looking around and we made some suggestions for the centerpiece and so she is going to swap somethings around and change the colors a little bit and we're going to go back once again and take a look and see what shes done.

mean while i still have to go to mens warehouse and change the color and style of the vest and ties for the groomsmen because it's still in that green color. i also need to order another small dress offline for my sister to wear. ugh!
i need a job so bad!

knot pick!

45 days to go and we've juggled the idea of what to use as a centerpiece for our tables, we've changed themes and colors so muuch throughout this whole thing we've been kinda hesitant to pick one. well the florists that works at michael's in humble owns her own business where she creates large custom centerpieces and we had a meeting with her last thursday to see if we were going to use her and take a look at her portfolios to see just what kind of work she does and when i saw her pictures i was floored. she makes these grand centerpices that i've been looking at on theknot.com the whole time i've been searching for centerpiece ideas and they are amazing. she has all different kinds of stuff like these huge candleabras, glass vases with jewels in the bottom of them that light up and you can really see them once night fall rolls around which would really stand out. im trying to figure out which ones i think i'll want. we've already designed our girls bouqets and we're going to bring her the rest of the flowers we bought like that and she's going to finish them. we have another meeting with her tomorrow at 9 am and she is going to show us what she came up with. i'm really excited to see tomorrow the first design. :) she told us that one of her weddings got voted to go into one of the magazines which is what i'm trying to accomplish with this wedding. i want to send in all my pictures to the knot.com and i want it to be voted as one of the best!
hopefully all this hard work will pay off!

drip drop woops did he get that shot?

hahahha. today i was scheduled for bridal portraits at 3 pm at the gallery. so i woke up at 9 o'clock and started running all around town trying to find some hair accesories. i went to like 4 different places and was unsucessful. so i went to my hair appointment at 11 at visible changes to get my hair done and was there til 1! geesh talk about numb! once i finally left there i headed downtown and i was sceptical of the place at first because i knew what part of town it was in and well let's just say it wasn't the best. but i was shocked when we got there! it was tucked away behind these rod iron fences in between to apartment complexes which was totally weird. hahaha. so when i arrived i saw dilauro setting his camera equipment and i went to the brides room to start getting ready even that room was beautiful. it would have been an amazing place to get married but its too far. so i got all dolled up and started slipping into my dress. which i might add was a tight fit! haha. as soon as i stepped out the door sweat began pouring off me! it was insanely HOT! that satin dress prolly didn't help. i was shy at first but towards the end of it i started warming up and feeling like a movie star. my dad was screaming america's next top model lol because that's what i've wanted to be my whole life. *side note* i don't know why my dad wanted to come so much but i wasn't gonna argue.
once he finished he asked "is there anything you see that you want to do?" and i had already looked at his website and saw this really cool pose where a girl was laying down and had all of her legs showing by propping her feet up on a gate. well i attempted to do that and flashed some guy all my secret stuff in the process . see what happened was i had my legs sticking straight up in the air so my dress fell in the back exposing my goods and some guy walked out the door to this underground thing where i was laying. ttoooootttalllllyyyy embarassing! lol but i had soooo much fun and am super sad that it's over now. i want more pictures!!! ( never thought you'd hear me say those words did ya?)

you're kidding me right?!?

when david's bridal called saying that our dresses had arrived i was so excited. until we picked them up and i saw the color. it looked like boogers. i was like wtf is that?? and rock said " just wait til we get them home and i get it on" so we drove to her house and she put it on and i was trying to see it i really was but it just looked aweful! this could not be happening. i went home and hung the other three dresses on my bedroom door and just kinda stopped to glance at them everytime i passed them hoping they might start looking better but it just wasn't happening and i finally broke down and went crazy i could not have these dresses in my wedding. . so i asked a couple of the groomsmen and bridesmaid what they would think if we switched the color to purple? well the reaction was positive and so i went with it. i had two days to make my decision on whether or not to change colors at the very last second. so i did it.

aaaaaaagggggggghhhhhhhh.... what???!!???!!

i really did. me and rock started searching the internet for new bridesmaid dresses and we found something at charlotte russe so i went the other day and bought two.

our new color is purple and everyones likes it! i think it's gonna be much prettier.and we went today to pick out our new table cloth colors.

say what??

the other day we went to the kingwood post office to apply for our passports so that we can go to JAMAICA and while we were standing in line waiting for the lady to finish two older ladies were talking about the price of printing pictures at walgreens and aris turns around and says i know they're pretty cheap at fed ex lol only because i work there. and that was all he needed he started going on and on about all the products fed ex offers. you know it's really sad when you walk into someones house who has pictures on the wall and he says, "i wonder where they got their oversizes done at?" . seriously. . he needs a raise!! hahaha.

Saturday, August 29, 2009

they have arrived.

when we went to pick our bridesmaids dresses we had waited a little too long. this is what my very first blog was about. i thought three and a half months was plenty of time but apparently not. . the single dress that i could stand from david's bridal wouldn't be in until the 8th of october if we bought it full price THAT day.. just two weeks before the wedding date which didn't give us much room for mistake. but i decided to go ahead and get it anyway. which was a mistake because when i took the rest of my bridesmaids to try there's on it turned out david's bridal was supposed to have pulled that particular style off the floor that day because the dresses were labeled two sizes too small. so when girls were ordering their dresses and they came in they didn't fit. so we took the chance and ordered them anyway. geesh i know a lot of risks im taking with these stinkin things. haha. well it all turned out ok in the end because i got a call and an e-mail yesterday saying the dresses had arrived. so me and rock went and picked them up this afternoon and it was nerve rackingk because i thought the sizes would be all screwed up but when we went to rock's house to try them on it zipped up with ease and she looked amazing in them. the only problem is that now i look at the dress it looks like crap.
hahah. . im so indecisive. =]

is this illegal? haha

. . we had originally planned to go with flowers for the centerpieces on all our tables but personally i dont care too much for flowers. my mom is amazing with creating grand flower centerpieces but they were spendy . they were running about fifty dollars a table and at 13 tables well that can turn into a pretty penny. . so we completely scratched the idea of flower centerpieces and decided to go with a big gold centerpiece of some kind we went to hobby lobby to look for something like a candle holder or a bowl or something that would look good on a huge table.. we found some pretty good stuff but they were like $80 and that was out of the question . so we've been holding out on centerpieces and just waiting to see if we could come across anything that was more of what we were looking for and in our price range. well my mom is a persistant thing and the flower decorator at michael's does side work for weddings where she makes "grand" centerpieces that we can rent for twenty bucks a piece! that was like music to my ears because i've seen her work and it's phenominal! she's amazing i have full faith that what she makes us will tie everything together and make it look amazing so we have an appointment with her sunday to take a look at some of her stuff to see what she can come up with!

this is taking forever!

it's now going into the third week of august and we still dont have our invitations printed up or sent out . we don't even have our guest list finalized. wow. we're quickly running out of time. we still have yet to pick out our music or find centerpieces for the thirteen tables. i've been searching for backgrounds that we can use for our invitations and trying to create a monogram for the front of it. aris is going to try to hurry and make a sample of the invitation tonight and tomorrow we're coming up to his job to sit with one of his co-workers and try to figure something out.i guess we're just going to print about seventy five or eight of them and once we figure out exactly who is coming we'll have them ready to mail out. i'm ready for this part of the wedding planning to be over with so we can get onto the fun stuff. the day is quickly approching .

trying to decide

so of course i'm not gonna put the good ones are here cause they've gotta be a suprise but here are a few shots we took that i just really like.

ok, so it's been two weeks since i started this "nanny" bit and it's taking a toll on me. i'm there for approx twelve hours a day and it's a drag but hey i'm making good money, i take naps, i work out, i drive her car, i have a key to the house and we get to go fun places everyday like to the movies. :) so on tuesday my best friend/maid of honor came to visit me and aris and we went and took pictures at this little white church in kingwood that i had originally wanted to get married at but it wasn't big enough. we got some really great shots! we did some studying online of engagement pics like popular positions, angles and stuff like that so when we went we weren't clueless on what we wanted. espicially since so many of our friends are either gettting married or are married the hunt for ideas wasn't that hard. in a previous post i mentioned that we had already got the wording picked out and now we just needed to put everything together. aris works at fed ex so we're getting all this stuff free! what a blessing! saving our families a big chunk of dinero. lol. we're still stuck on what pic we want to actually use tho we've taken so many and there are so many good ones we dont know which to choose!

long time i do!

sooo, it's been a while since i updated everyone with the wedding details. ;)
time to talk about where we're gonna live. there are some apartments on the corner street aris lives on now that are government assisted so obvioulsy money wise that would be our best bet. well the waiting list for that place is like a year long because of everyone wanting to get in there. well we put our names on the waiting list for a two bedroom and one sunday night at church the preacher said that if you wanted anything now was the time to ask so i did. i was stressing out about where we were gonna live so i asked God to please make a way for us. well he delivered like i knew he would and a lot faster than i thought he would! the apartment lady (her name is vicky but i prefer this ) called the next day saying she moved us up to the top since we were going to be getting married (me and my hunny leave a great impression) and that a lady was going to be moving out in about a week! so we waited as long as we could wait and she finally got all the stuff taken care of like cleanign the place, our applications, background checks, and so on. We went in yesterday to sign the lease. We will have to pay rent even though we won't be living there til november, but it's still amazing! im so excited! Right now we're too busy with work and wedding plans that the apartment is the last thing on our minds. well it's nice to know that we'll have somewhere to live when we get back from jamaica i just don't know when we're going to have time to move all our stuff in!

ok so the honeymoon, is completely PAID for! yet another heavy weight lifted off my shoulders! august first they deducted the remaining amount due from my good ole chase checking account. now we just need spending money which im sure we'll get plenty of!

busy as wedding bees!

wow. where do i start today has been insane. it was aris' day off so we took advantage. haha.first we started out by going to the linen shop in houston that had every piece of fabric you could think of! so after about an hour there of coming up will all these different arrangements we finally picked a color combination that i loved. it wasn't easy and once again we changed our flower decoration from white roses to gold chargers and a gold centerpiece of some kind that will pull everthing together. we're once again on the hunt for the perfect centerpiece. hobby lobby, michael's, pier one ( which i love, btw) and kirklands! ah. still haven't found the exact one but we've got some really great ideas. lunch at chuy's ! then after that me, mom, second mom, and the hubby went to men's warehouse to set up our account. eight groomsmen and four bridesmaids, wow. each girl will have two men walk her down the isle. =] it's going to be beautiful. im so excited to see everything pulling together nicely with no stress. i love planning and being organized. haha. my moms have really made it easy on me. so after we picked what the groomsmen and my sweetie will be wearing we picked out the outfits for the FOG and FOB ( moms really went to town on that one ) so finally after being there for two hours we went to bed bath and beyond. i had already registered online but aris wanted to actually go into the store so we could shoot the laser gun hahaha. so here we go me aris and john - his best man- let lose in this huge store to scan whatever we wanted. it was amazing! we were there forever! go online and check out our registry! i loved it.

all in all it was a great day, this wedding stuff is actually getting funnnnn!! everyone is under as much pressure to get these things accomplished and are starting to enjoy themselves. my moms even had the idea of being wedding coordinators hahah. that's crazy! this wedding is going to be AMAZING.

bridal portraits

since i didn't have the blog at the time no one really heard about my whole wedding dress shopping experince. well let me just say it was deff unique! let me just tell you exactly how it went.
i had been searching online for an idea of a dress style that i wanted. i had no knowledge on any styles of wedding dresses except for the big poof princess dress which was just not me. so me and aris' sister really started searching for something more along my style. i looked everywhere alfred angelo and even searched usedweddingdresses.com , i even had the idea that i was going to get my dress hand made custom just so i could get exactly what i wanted and just to try and find something different. then one day, i found the dress i thought i wanted no doubt in my mind. that was the dress. so i searched for shops in the greater houston area for shops that carried the dress and it was like a sign, the neighborhood i grew up in had a bridal shop that carried the dress. i made and appiointment and me and my mom and my mother in law and the lady that was personally going to hand make my dress AND my maid of honor all stomped into the bridal shop all SIX of us. let me just say total choas. it was like shop til you drop in that bridal store. we picked out about 25 different dresses for me to try on. and the ONE dress i had went there to try on turned out to be a dud. it was nothing like the picture. it wasn't shiny , the color wasn't the same, and overall i was just not satisfied with the dress. so we started looking for something else. luckily i found a dress that was stunning. it turned out to be half the price of the original one i wanted which was amazing and it looked amazing on me. so we bought it. i learned don't bring anyone with you to pick out your dress except for your maid on honor cause it was total chaos! hahahaha. good times. so now my dress is here three months later and i've gained a couple pounds and it's kinda hard to get my dress zipped so me and my baby are on a wedding diet/work out and he's losing it but mine is just shifting to different areas of my hips!

as soon as i can get my dress on to where it fits comfortably i'm on my way to take my bridal portraits with Mr. Dilauro, which i LOVE his work is beatuiful. i think his style is very classy and vintage. nothing about it traditional which everyone knows is something im not going for. i love the new modern wedding and that's what he's giving to me. the only problem is i dont know where to take pics at. i had originally gone with his suggestion to go to pmhouston.com but i found out a lot of girls go there to take pics so im on a hunt now to find somewhere origianl.

programming

ok so i rushing this blog, cause aris' laptop is bout to die.
after sorting thru photo after photo from our down town photo shoot me and aris still haven't decided on a single photo to put in the invitations. this is becoming a real task. neither one of us are satisfied and we only took about 500 pics. i'm fat , i'm ugly, my face looks weird!! what am i'm doing. hahaha. we're fighting for the best picture possible. i mean it is our wedding invitation after all.
so today we got online and printed all the possible formats for different invitations, response cards, programs, and thank you cards.
do we want modern, traditional, or contemporary? so many possibilies! We, or shall i say i , decided on the actual wording for our invitations. not the funnest part about planning a wedding but one more small thing out of the way. i also drew up our response cards and our wedding programs.
this thing is coming along nice, and painless.

ahhhh.. 90 more days! and i'm so excited. <3

ok so all the plans we had on thursday fell through. instead we went to downtown houston today to shoot some of our engagement pics. =] well it takes me a little time to warm up but for the most part we got some good shots. we went to some really beautiful places, with the help of my maid of honor shout out to rocko! it was so exhausting! we were down there for like 6 hours. we found the hotel that we will be staying at the night of our wedding before we go on our cruise. hotel zaza! it's so amazing.
me and my hunny are gonna work on the wording to our invitations tonight and try and decide on a layout and one or two pics of the hundreds we took today. my goal is to get the invitations out by the first, and get out responses back my the twentieth. that way we can get a head count and know how much food to prepare for.
OH! we're going for some food testing either on monday or tuesday!
i can't wait just small details from here.
i love not having a job, now we can start knocking this stuff out.

falling through

ahhh.. the stress continues. . everyday is a new headache. haha. tomorrow is going to be a very eventful day, we're going to look at a linen shop in the montrose (i'm not letting aris go, that pretty boy!) rumor has it that it is the best shop around. they've got every color table cloth, chair cover, sash, runner , and overlay you could possibly think of. exciting stuff right?? hahaha. i know. we're also gonna go to the country club to do some taste testing on the different foods they offer. what if they're italian takes like poop? these are things we can't be risking. hehe. so tomorrow we will have our complete tables picked out and knowing me we're prolly gonna be at that place for like 6 hours until i find the perfect color combination. everything has to be perfect. things are really getting close now. one single move can determine my whole wedding , i want it to be beautiful . it's a day me and aris will share for the next fifty years, right babe? just fifty? hahaha.

we've also gotta start on picking out the music and writting up the lettering of our invitations, addressing them and sending them out! the clock is ticking! expect to be getting your invitation shortly.

david's bridal.

i would have to say that david's bridal, in my opinion, is the worst bridal shop there is. first off, they allow no returns or exchanges. how gay is that. second. their bridemaids dresses not only have boring style, they're cheaply made and wwwaaayy over priced. one fifty for some cheap material that we could buy at hobby lobby.third. their choice of designers for wedding gowns stink! they're all the typical style plain wedding dresses. if your trying to be different in any way do not buy your gown from here! fourth their service is aweful! i've been to three different shops and their employess are all rude. everysingle time. without a doubt. well granted the day i went i was in a horrible mood cause not only had i quit my job, i had also lost two bridesmaids. needless to say it was horrible. haha.

so today while i was at work i got a call from mrs. d'marie [ the lady that helped me , the only valuable employee they have] and for some reason she thought i was getting my wedding dress there and asked me when i planned on putting my dress on layaway. haha. so then luckily i picked up one more bridesmaid cause aris has like a jillion dudes and i have no chick friends haha. so i can now order one more dress and it be here in time for the wedding like i mean 5 days before so we're cutting it close. heheh. just like everything.

visit our website
http://theknot.com/ourwedding/stephanieteed&arissharp
and sign our guestbook! 715 people have already viewed our wedding website and im super excited! we've sent out our save the dates and i think aris did a wonderful job on designing them! well, today makes about 96 days, and things are getting down to the wire, bridesmaids are dropping left and right and then we're picking them back up again, venues are changing with less than 90 days to go,contracts are being broken, flower arrangements are changing daily, and we just got an accent color picked out! ah. such a procrastinator i am. hehe. this thing better start coming together quick! we still need table cloths, chair covers, our white wedding chairs for outside, and our table centerpieces, which my mom is so diligently working on daily. do we want roses or do we want hydrainyas? too many decisions! plus i'm not a flower girl. personally, i hate all flowers i think they're ugly. so needless to say flowers are most deff the hardest part of this whole thing for me. i should deffinatley have my own BRIDEZILLA show! 07/16/2009 was hands down the worst day of my life. geesh. maybe i can talk about it later in the future. still too many emotions. . we're going tomorrow or maybe wednesday to look at all the linens and chair covers. . 96 more days, can't wait. .
